What is UPTAC Round 4 Seat Allotment?
|
|
UPTAC (Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling) is the centralised counselling process run by AKTU for admission to B.Tech, B.Pharm, BHMCT, MBA, MCA, and other technical/professional programmes offered by AKTU-affiliated and constituent institutes across Uttar Pradesh. Round 4 is the fourth and final main allotment round of UPTAC 2026, and it functions differently from Rounds 1–3: candidates who locked their choices after Round 3 are automatically allotted the best possible seat based on their rank and locked preference order — there is no separate Freeze/Float decision to make in Round 4. Any new seat received in this round is automatically frozen.

Round 4 — Key Differences from Rounds 1, 2 & 3
- No Freeze/Float Option: Unlike earlier rounds, candidates cannot choose to Float in Round 4 — any new allotment is auto-frozen, ending further upgrade opportunities in the main rounds
- Choices Are Locked From Round 3: Round 4 allotment is based entirely on the choice list a candidate locked at the end of Round 3 (27–28 July 2026) — no fresh choice filling happens before Round 4
- Best Available Seat Given: The system automatically allots the highest-preference seat a candidate is eligible for, based on their rank and the vacancy position after Round 3
- Candidates Who Already Froze Earlier: If you already froze your seat in Round 1, 2, or 3, you are not part of Round 4 allotment and should proceed directly to physical reporting/admission formalities at your frozen institute
- Mandatory Fee Payment Within Deadline: Any candidate allotted a new seat in Round 4 must pay the seat confirmation fee within the 4–7 August 2026 window, or the seat is forfeited with no further recourse

Physical Reporting — Round 4
- All candidates allotted a seat in Round 4 must physically report to their allotted institute between 04–07 August 2026
- Carry the Seat Allotment Letter, fee payment receipt, and all original documents for verification
- Non-reporting within the given window results in automatic seat cancellation, and no refund is provided for whatsoever reason
- After successful physical reporting, the institute completes local-level admission formalities, including fee structure briefing for the upcoming semester
- Reported candidates become eligible for the Internal Sliding Round for a possible branch upgrade within the same institute
|
Seat Withdrawal After Round 4
- Candidates who wish to exit UPTAC counselling after Round 4 can submit a withdrawal request between 04–07 August 2026
- A partial refund of the seat acceptance fee is typically processed for withdrawals made within this window, after applicable deductions
- Bank account details must be submitted on the portal for refund processing
- The registration and processing fee paid at the start of counselling remains non-refundable under all circumstances
- Once withdrawn, the candidate is out of UPTAC 2026 counselling and cannot re-enter the same admission cycle through regular rounds
|
What Happens After Round 4 — Next Steps
- Internal Sliding Round (Round 5): Begins 8 August 2026 — open only to candidates who have already physically reported/admitted at an institute; allows a branch upgrade within the same college based on merit and vacancy, without changing institutes
- Special Round 1: Expected around 13 August 2026 — opens up any seats still vacant after Round 4 and the sliding round; open to candidates from Round 4 non-allottees as well as fresh eligible candidates (JEE Main / CUET UG / Class 12 merit route, as applicable) including candidates from outside UP
- Special Round 2: A further, final vacancy-filling round tentatively scheduled for late August 2026 for any seats remaining unfilled
- Candidates should keep regularly checking the official portal, as special-round eligibility and vacancy lists are published separately after each round closes
|

Important Points Candidates Must Know
- Round 4 has no Freeze/Float choice — the seat you get is your seat; plan accordingly before Round 3 choice locking in future admission cycles
- If you were already frozen in an earlier round, Round 4 does not affect you — continue with your existing admission process
- Missing the 4–7 August fee payment or reporting deadline means automatic forfeiture of the Round 4 seat with no refund
- Candidates seeking a better branch/college after Round 4 should rely on the Internal Sliding Round (same institute only) or wait for the Special Rounds (any institute, based on live vacancies)
- Opening and closing ranks for Round 4 (course and category-wise) are published separately on the portal — useful for gauging how close you were to a seat and for planning special-round choices
- Outstation (non-UP) candidates typically become eligible to participate from the Special Rounds onward, once seat vacancy expands
|
Tips for Candidates Awaiting Special Rounds
- Track the opening/closing rank trend across Rounds 1–4 for your target branches to estimate your chances in the Special Rounds
- Widen your choice list to include private/self-financed colleges and less competitive branches in the Special Rounds, since vacancy patterns shift significantly by then
- Keep all original documents ready and pre-verified, since Special Round reporting windows are typically shorter than main-round windows
- If considering withdrawal, weigh it carefully — refunds are partial and non-withdrawal deadlines are strict once Round 4 closes
- Cross-check whether your target institute/branch also accepts admission through CUET UG or other national-level exams if your JEE Main rank does not secure a seat
