About RRB JE Recruitment 2026

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), under the Ministry of Railways, have released the Detailed Centralised Employment Notice CEN No. 04/2026 for recruitment to 3,993 posts of Junior Engineer (JE) — covering Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Signal & Telecommunication disciplines — and Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) across Indian Railway zones and production units.

All 3,993 posts fall under Pay Level 6 (₹35,400 initial pay) of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix. Applications must be submitted ONLINE ONLY through any one chosen RRB’s official website — candidates cannot apply to more than one RRB, or their application will be summarily rejected and they will be debarred from future RRB/RRC exams.

Selection Process

  • Stage 1: 1st Stage CBT (CBT-I) — Common screening test for all notified posts
  • Stage 2: 2nd Stage CBT (CBT-II) — Discipline/Exam-Group specific test
  • Stage 3: Document Verification (DV) — Shortlisting at 1:1 ratio of vacancies based on CBT-II merit
  • Stage 4: Medical Examination (ME) — As per prescribed medical standard for each post

Important: Candidates shortlisted for CBT-II availing reservation benefits (community/PwBD/ExSM) will continue to be considered only against that community for all subsequent stages. There is negative marking of 1/3rd mark for every wrong answer in both CBTs.

  • First-time applicants must “Create an Account” — mobile number and email ID entered here CANNOT be changed later
  • Authenticate identity using DigiLocker/Aadhaar for smoother verification (strongly advised)
  • Fill the online application — select preferences for Railway Zones and posts within your chosen RRB only
  • Capture a LIVE photograph via webcam/mobile camera (pre-existing photos not accepted)
  • Upload scanned signature (JPG/JPEG, 30-49 KB, running handwriting only — not block/capital letters)
  • Upload SC/ST certificate (PDF, under 400 KB) if opting for free train travel facility
  • Choose medium of examination (English, Hindi, or 13 regional languages)
  • Pay the applicable fee online and submit the application before 13 September 2026, 23:59 Hrs

Critical Warning: Applying to more than one RRB, or submitting multiple applications with minor variations, will result in rejection of ALL applications and lifetime debarment from RRB/RRC exams.
