RBI JE 2026 Cut-Off — What to Expect
Separate cut-off lists are released for Civil and Electrical streams
Cut-off is further segregated category-wise — General/UR, OBC, SC, ST, EWS
Approximately 5× the number of vacancies are shortlisted from the online exam for LPT (given only 11 total vacancies, this means a very small, highly competitive shortlist)
Cut-off depends on: number of vacancies, number of candidates who appeared, difficulty level of the exam, and average attempts
If the exam was conducted in multiple sessions/shifts, scores are normalized using the equipercentile method before cut-off is finalized
Note: With only 11 vacancies nationwide, this is one of the most competitive engineering-cadre bank exams — cut-offs are typically very high compared to state-level JE exams.
Language Proficiency Test (LPT) — What You Need to Know
LPT is mandatory for every shortlisted candidate — there is no exemption, even for candidates who are native speakers on paper
Conducted at the respective Zonal Office of RBI where you applied
Tests reading, writing & speaking proficiency in the official/local language of that zone (e.g., Marathi for Mumbai zone, Tamil for Chennai zone, Bengali for Kolkata zone, etc.)
Candidates who fail to demonstrate the prescribed proficiency level will be disqualified, regardless of their written exam score
Purpose: ensures the Junior Engineer can effectively communicate with local staff/customers during zonal postings

Diploma/Degree Certificate & Marksheets in Civil/Electrical Engineering (as applicable)
